An important Announcement
A statement on orrville’s future
Did you know how wonderful God is? 123 years ago, He knew that a church called Orrville would be started in a mill community just outside Anderson, SC. He knew of the faithful men and women that would help her get her start. He knew of the men of God He would call as pastors. He knew of the sweet people that would call Orrville home from near and afar. He knew of her growth. He knew of the lives that would be changed within her walls.
He has been with us throughout a period of decline. The faithful men and women who have tirelessly worked to keep Orrville working have been strengthened by His love and grace. All during this time of decline, He has prepared us for the crossroads we now face. And yet God in his infinite wisdom and grace has revealed to Orrville His plan for this place.
On Sunday, July 23rd, the active congregation of Orrville voted overwhelmingly to merge with First Baptist Simpsonville to become Upstate Church Anderson, one of many campuses of the church. Thus begins a new chapter of ministry and sharing the Gospel in this place. It is a prayer answered!
While it is somber knowing that the name Orrville will no longer be on the building, the people of Orrville are comforted in the knowledge that the name does not matter. The mission matters. This merger provides the opportunity for the mission of sharing the Gospel and reaching a lost world to continue with the same vigor it once did. Orrville has not died. The legacy of what was once one of the largest and most vibrant churches around lives on. It lives on in the lives of so many who were changed forever by God’s love in this place.
The merger becomes effective in mid-August. We encourage everyone to pray for the ministry of Upstate Church Anderson!

"Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age".
