Knowing Jesus

Who Is Jesus

Today there seems to be many answers to that question. But the Bible makes it clear who He is. In the Gospel of John it says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being." (John 1:1-3 NASB) The word, "Word" in the Greek is "Logos." John is denoting the essential Word of God, Jesus Christ, the personal wisdom and power in union with God, his minister in creation and government of the universe, the cause of all the world's life both physical and ethical, which for the procurement of man's salvation put on human nature in the person of Jesus the Messiah, the second person in the Godhead, and shone forth conspicuously form His words and deeds. - Strong's.

John continues in verse 14 of the same chapter, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory from the Father, full of grace and truth." The reason for God's appearing as a man was to reconcile the gap that sin born into every human since the fall of Adam separated us from Him. Jesus, in His own words, told a religious fellow that came to Him in the anonymity of the night to inquire who He was. John notes the conversation in chapter 3 of his Gospel. "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judegd already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the judgement that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." (John 3:14-21 NASB)

Jesus also came to show us how to live. He told His disciples exactly how we should live. John 15:10, 12: "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father's commandments, and abide in His love." "This is my commandment, that you love one another, just as I have loved you." This love is called in the Greek, "Agape." That is a love that can only come from God because it is based not on performance, but on God's love for us. The believer is to love one another in the fellowship as God loves us. By this the world may know that we are of one accord by the love we display to each other.

Becoming A Christian

Have you ever felt lonely or lost? Have you felt like there's more out there and you just can't figure out what it is? Ever wonder why we do the things we do and how we get to where we are? The truth is there is more out there and that there is a living God who knows what we are doing, what we have done and what we are going to do. He knew us before we were born even before the world was created. He wants to be close to us and shows us that every day. (Romans 1:19-20)

God loves you very much and has a special plan for your life. God says in the Bible that he has great plans for us. He wants us to prosper and not be harmed. He has planned every day of your life, plans for hope and a future with him. (Jeremiah 29:11).

Even when Adam sinned and seperated us from God (Isaiah 59:2), God had a plan for us to be with him again. God’s plan for you includes asking His Son Jesus into your life to be your Lord and Savior so you can live forever with Him in heaven. At first hearing that we are all cursed with sin (3:23) no matter what we do and knowing that the ultimate end to sin is death sounds rather bleak, but there's some great news, even though your sin separates you from God, He loves you very much and does not want you to be separated from him.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). All you need to do is believe, truly believe, that Jesus was real and that he did die for all of us. Believe that Jesus is God in flesh and that he left heaven to sacrifice himself for our sins. (Romans 5:8) He took the punishment of death for us so that as long as we believe in him will not suffer from the outcome of sin, but instead we can have eternal life with Jesus.(Romans 6:23)

Jesus died to provide everyone who asks (Romans 10:13) a way to heaven. If you believe that and through faith accept His salvation, you to can be forgiven from all your sins. Pray and tell God what you have decided in your heart. Confess that you are a sinner, and that you truly believe that Christ, God's Son who is now alive, died for your sins. (Romans 10:9) Jesus longs to have a relationship with you. If you have prayed that prayer please let us know and know that we are praying for you as you start this new beginning with Christ.
